Consultancy, not an agency

Plenty of companies will build you an app. We help you understand your own business well enough to build it yourselves.

We have run businesses for over thirty years, so we start where you are: the processes, the people and the data you already have. We help you see what can be done, how it can be done and what it really involves, then we teach your team to do it. No third party in the middle, and nothing left that only we understand.

We are

  • A consultancy run by business owners, not developers
  • Process first: we map how the work really flows before anyone talks about technology
  • Teachers: we explain what can be done and how, then your team does the building
  • Independent: nothing to sell you, no software commission, no reseller deals
  • Honest: if the right answer is to leave something alone, we will say so

We are not

  • An app developer or software house
  • An agency that builds it, hosts it and charges you every month
  • A reseller pushing one platform or tool
  • A retainer you can never get out of

AI: the facts

Everyone has heard a claim about AI. Very few have had it explained plainly.

What it can do, what it can’t, what it costs to run, and where the risks really sit. No hype, and nothing to sell you.

What we can help you build

If we understand the process, we can help you build it.

It is all about the processes, the streamlining and knowing what data you have already got. Most businesses already pay for good software, but each system only reports on its own corner. We connect what you already have, so the whole business works from one picture. Here are a few examples. They are examples, not a menu.

Something else

Don’t see yours? Tell us how your business runs.

Most of what our clients build starts with a process nobody has written down. Five minutes of questions is usually enough to see where it would begin.

We guide, you build and own it. We do not build these for you or sell you a platform: we help you work out what is worth doing, show you how, and your team builds it in your own accounts, with the working written down.

Sectors

Who we help

Facilities and property services

Multi-site contracts, audits, issues and the client reports that keep renewals calm.

Distribution and wholesale

Stock, margin, rebates and customers, seen monthly rather than at year end.

Schools and multi-academy trusts

Tenders, specifications and contractor reporting your governors can follow.

Security and fire

Patrol evidence, response times and the compliance record that backs them up.

Professional services

Time, utilisation and the proposals that win the next piece of work.

Manufacturing and engineering

Job visibility, quality records and reporting that keeps customers confident.

Retail and leisure

Site standards, staffing and the performance view each location needs.

If your business runs on people, processes and data, we can help. These are just the sectors we know best.

The name

Why Long Lever?

Give someone a long enough lever and a firm place to stand, and they can move almost anything. That's what we do: find the small, well-placed changes that make a big difference.

And the balanced lever in our logo is the other half of the story: we've sat on both sides of the table, as business owner and as contractor, so we help both sides get a fair, practical result.

No new systems to rip out

We work above what you already run. Nothing is replaced, nothing is unplugged, nothing is re-keyed.

No subscriptions or lock-in

We are the guide, not the software house. We show you what you can build, then give you the tools and the know-how to build it yourselves. What you build is yours.

Your team learns to run it

Hands-on training and written guides, so your people can run it, change it and build the next thing without waiting on anyone.

Start where it hurts

What are you trying to improve?

Pick the one that sounds most like your week. The route is the same each time; the work inside it is not.

1Understand

A half-day with you maps where the admin actually piles up, and what it really costs.

2Connect

The spreadsheets, job system and inboxes you already use are joined read-only.

3Show

One weekly view of the admin, so nothing hides and nothing gets re-typed.

4Hand over

Your team runs the weekly routine from a one-page guide we write with them.

What that looks like: A weekly rhythm that takes minutes a day, not a day a week.

The four steps

Same data, different audiences

One set of data. Four different stories.

The same monthly contract figures, shown four ways. Nothing is recalculated. It is simply presented for the person reading it.

Tap or click a card to see what that audience gets, and why it matters.

Where it sits

A layer above your systems, not a replacement.

We do not ask you to move onto anything new. We sit above the tools you already pay for, read what is there, and turn it into something you can actually use.

Read-only. Nothing gets ripped out. If you stopped working with us tomorrow, your systems would carry on exactly as they are.

Who you're working with

Built by an owner, not a software house.

We have run service businesses for over thirty years, and sat in every seat: the sales call, the month end, the site visit, the invoice that had to go out. In the last year we built in-house the kind of systems we would once have paid tens of thousands for.

That same experience sits on the buying side too, helping schools and trusts buy cleaning, security and facilities services well.

How we work and what it costs

Consultancy that does not cost a fortune.

We keep our costs down by using the technology that is already available, and we pass that on. No subscriptions, no percentage of your contracts, and no meter running in the background: fixed prices, agreed before we start.

Remote first

Teams, Zoom or Google Meet, whatever you already use. You show us how the work really happens on screen: the spreadsheets, the systems, the reports, one real job from start to finish.

Live process mapping

We map your process on screen as you talk, so you can see it taking shape and correct it as we go. With your permission, the session is recorded so nothing is lost, and you get a written summary and process map the same day.

Visits when they help

Sometimes an hour on site tells us more than three calls. We are based in Leeds: visits across the North and the Midlands are included in build-with-you packages. Further afield, by arrangement, with travel at cost.

Your data protected

We will sign an NDA before we see anything, and we are happy to sign yours. Anything you share is used only to help you, and nothing is used to train AI models.

First conversation

Free

30 minutes on a video call

Tell us how the business runs and where the time goes. If we cannot help, we will say so.

Discovery session

£500

Fixed price, half a day

We look at how you work, then you get a written one-page plan: what is worth doing, in what order, what it should save and which tools it needs. Taken off the price if you go on to a build-with-you package.

Build-with-you

£1,500 to £4,000

Fixed price, agreed up front

Usually two to five days, depending on what we are building together. Your team builds it with us alongside, in your own accounts, and keeps the written guides.

Or share the saving

Where the gain can be measured in hard numbers, we can agree a starting point together and take a share of what is proven at twelve months instead of a full fee. You keep the rest, and if it does not deliver, you have not paid for it. It is always a conversation.

Book a free conversation

Running costs after you have built something are usually a few modest monthly tool subscriptions and hosting, paid directly by you. Schools and trusts are always on fixed fees.

Fair questions

The things people actually ask.

Start with a free discovery check.

About five minutes, rough answers are fine. You will get a short summary of where the first opportunity is likely to be, and what the sensible next step looks like.
